Situated along a bluff and beach overlooking Buzzards Bay, this four bedroom residence replaces one of the many cottages that first dotted the landscape in the late 19th century. The existing cottage had fallen into significant disrepair and our clients wanted to seamlessly integrate the new building into the existing architectural fabric. The house graciously lifts itself above the flood plain and provides an open transparent plan on the main level with private sleeping and sitting spaces located on the upper level. Every space takes full advantage of the unobstructed views and reach out onto covered porches and roof decks. The design and detailing reflects the vernacular traditions of New England while incorporating contemporary ideas appropriate for 21st century living.
